Understanding Your Moving Valuation Options

Protection for Your Peace of Mind

At Coastal Elite Moving LLC, we treat your belongings as if they were our own. However, for your protection, federal law requires us to offer two different levels of liability for your shipment. It is important to understand these options before your moving day.

1. Released Value Protection (Basic Coverage)

      • Cost: $0 (Included at no extra charge)
      • How it works: This is the most economical option. Under this level of liability, our company is responsible for no more than 60 cents per pound, per article.
      • The Math: If a 50-pound television is damaged, the maximum compensation would be $30.00 (50 lbs x $0.60), regardless of the TV’s original price.
      • Best for: Customers who already have third-party insurance or are moving low-value items.

2. Full Value Protection (Comprehensive Coverage)

  • Cost: Varies based on the total value you declare for your shipment.
  • How it works: This is our most recommended option. If any item is lost or damaged while in our care, we will, at our option:
    1. Repair the item to its original condition.
    2. Replace it with an item of like kind and quality.
    3. Offer a cash settlement for the current market replacement value.
  • The Math: If that same 50-pound TV is damaged, we will cover the cost to fix it or replace it with a similar new model.
  • Best for: Full household moves, long-distance relocations, and valuable furniture or electronics.

Important: Items of Extraordinary Value

Please note that our liability may be limited for items of “extraordinary value”—meaning any item valued at more than $100 per pound (e.g., jewelry, antiques, fine art, or high-end electronics).

If you have such items, you must list them specifically on our High-Value Inventory Form before the move to ensure they are properly protected under Full Value Protection.
